PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Muntz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Alvarez Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Banner has chosen Seek and Destroy by Metallica as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner misses with an uppercut. Muntz saw that one coming.

Muntz pivots, looking for a leg kick but Banner is out of range and Muntz settles back down.
Muntz keeps the fight on the outside.

Muntz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Banner to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Muntz is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Banner postures up and lands a big shot to Muntz's brow.
Banner works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Banner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Banner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Muntz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Muntz regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Banner.

Banner prevents Muntz from getting back to his feet.
Banner throws a big elbow that misses.
Banner throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Muntz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Banner drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Muntz dives on top into guard.

Banner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Banner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Muntz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Banner is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Muntz defends well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Muntz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Banner is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Banner is defended easily by Muntz.
Some bone on bone action there as Banner checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Banner moves out of range as Muntz strikes.

Muntz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Banner sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Banner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Muntz, pushing him back against the cage.
Banner is trying to pull guard but Muntz has him pressed against the cage.
Banner is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Muntz gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Nelson Muntz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Alvarez Banner.
Banner has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Muntz after a bit of a struggle.
Muntz swings wildly with an uppercut but Banner uses good head movement to avoid it.

Banner is trying to pull guard but Muntz has him pressed against the cage.

Banner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Banner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Banner throws a series of strikes that have Muntz backpedaling.
Muntz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Banner throws a nice looking combination but Muntz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Muntz has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Banner throws a strike but Muntz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Muntz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Muntz takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Banner is looking to clinch but Muntz is avoiding it.
Bruce Alvarez Banner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Muntz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Muntz throws a hook to the side of Banner's head but Banner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Banner might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Banner shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Banner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Muntz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Banner dodges the punch combination from Muntz.
Banner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Banner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Muntz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Banner.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Muntz, right into the meat.
Muntz feints and then cracks Banner's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Banner down.

Muntz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Banner tries to close the distance and clinch but Muntz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Muntz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Banner connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Muntz scrambles back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Muntz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Banner.
Muntz throws a head kick that Banner semi-blocks.
Muntz misses with a looping right.
Good exchange - Muntz coming out on top.
Banner avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Banner scores with a nice strike.
Banner misses with a straight right.
Banner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Muntz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Banner gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Muntz moves out of range as Banner strikes.
Good leg kick by Muntz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Muntz.

A very excited looking Nelson Muntz rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
