Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitchell Guzman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Wilson ! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wilson blocks a low kick nicely. Wilson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Guzman is fending him off so far but Wilson persists. Nope, Guzman circles away and we're back to standing. Guzman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wilson as he jumps to the side. Guzman is looking to clinch. Guzman tries to clinch but Wilson moves out of range. Wilson gets a clinch. Wilson is trying to trip Guzman. He has hold of a leg but Guzman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wilson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Wilson trying to control the position from guard on top but Guzman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Guzman is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Wilson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Guzman wants to take a breather but Wilson is having none of it. Wilson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Guzman trying to pass the guard but Wilson defending well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wilson tries for a takedown but Guzman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Guzman tries to close the distance and clinch but Wilson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Wilson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wilson fails in his attempt to clinch. Guzman lands a nice looking kick to the body. Wilson takes a step back to recover. Guzman explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Wilson looks winded! Guzman doesn't manage to clinch there - Wilson circles away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Guzman has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wilson regains guard immediately. Guzman throwing strikes but missing. Guzman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Guzman wanted to stand there but Wilson had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guzman trying to control but Wilson is working from the bottom. Guzman won't allow Wilson to get back to his feet. Guzman passes Wilson 's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Guzman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wilson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Wilson is looking to control Guzman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wilson avoid being mounted? Guzman wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guzman throwing shots but Wilson is blocking nicely. Guzman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wilson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Guzman. Guzman trying to mount his opponent but Wilson defends it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wilson . Guzman is looking for a sweep. Guzman is being controlled here. Guzman is looking for a sweep. Wilson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Guzman is letting Wilson control him for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Guzman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Guzman is looking for a sweep. Guzman is trying to control Wilson 's posture but Wilson avoids it. Guzman is trying to get back to half guard. Guzman is trying to work for a sweep but Wilson has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Guzman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Wilson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wilson wants to pass to mount but Guzman is defending the position. Guzman wants to control but Wilson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Wilson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Guzman. Guzman trying to control here.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mitchell Guzman just wasn't active enough. Guzman avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Wilson shoots for a double leg takedown but Guzman sprawls well. He's pushed Wilson 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Wilson is breathing heavily. Guzman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Guzman keeps the fight on the outside. Wilson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Guzman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Wilson is staying active underneath Guzman, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Guzman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wilson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guzman moves nicely into side control. Guzman trying to control the position but Wilson is working away. Wilson sneaks back into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Guzman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mitchell Guzman will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A punch combination from Wilson misses. Wilson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Guzman to the mat! Guzman manages to get full guard. Guzman working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wilson . Wilson lands a couple of digs. Wilson content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Guzman has locked up a guillotine! Guzman's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wilson is holding on here and Guzman must be using up a lot of energy. Wilson has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Guzman gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
