PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Braxton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abbott comes to the cage accompanied by Cigarettes And Alcohol. Braxton has chosen "Choke" by Vision of Disorder as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Abbott!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus Braxton!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Braxton has Abbott up against the cage in a clinch.
Braxton misses with a knee to the head.

Braxton prevents Abbott from breaking the clinch.
Braxton will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Abbott up against the cage.
Braxton jumps guard but Abbott stands there with Braxton around his waist. Braxton gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Braxton lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Abbott wants to get back to full guard.

Abbott wants to control but Braxton is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Abbott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Abbott is really struggling to control Braxton but he's trying to hold on to the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Braxton misses with a takedown attempt - Abbott sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Abbott closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Braxton to the mat! Braxton manages to get full guard.

Abbott is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Braxton has managed to free his arm - good work.
Braxton is looking to control Abbott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Braxton avoid being mounted?
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Abbott moves nicely into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abbott shoots in for a takedown but Braxton shows good takedown defense.
Abbott lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

enabling Abbott to counter with a crisp jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Braxton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Abbott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Braxton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Horrible takedown by Abbott or perhaps it was just good defense by Braxton which made him look bad.
Frank Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Braxton counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Abbott's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Abbott is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Braxton rolls with it to try and escape but Abbott cranks on the arm and Braxton is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
