Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Murry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dark Side! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Side enables Murry to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Side manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murry wants to pass the guard but Side is keeping the position. Murry is working hard here to advance position. Murry is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Murry looking to pass the guard. Murry drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Murry jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Murry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Side swivels though and keeps the full guard. Side trying to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murry postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Side is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Murry, into his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Murry is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Side is aware though and is defending well. Murry looking for a triangle here. Side is fighting it but it looks tight! Murry pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Side is tapping out - this one is all over!
