Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Heft Haled (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Downer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Downer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Haled did well to prevent Downer getting side control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Haled looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Haled wants to control but Downer is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Downer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Dave Downer has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Downer is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Haled's half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Haled trying to control from the bottom.

Downer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Well, if Downer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Downer wants to pass to mount but Haled is defending the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downer is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Haled gets a double leg takedown into Downer's guard.
Haled might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Haled is looking to work some ground and pound but Downer has wrist control.

Downer is controlling Haled's posture.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Haled wants to pass the guard but Downer is keeping the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dave Downer hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Haled shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Downer's guard.

Haled tries to free his leg and advance position but Downer is retaining full guard.
Downer keeping moving, preventing Haled from controlling successfully.
Haled looking to pass the guard.

Haled drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Downer dives on top into guard.

Haled is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Downer is aware though and is defending well.
Downer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Haled really is a fat lump.
Downer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Haled swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Haled controls Downer momentarily but Downer frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Downer showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Downer works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Haled is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Haled has his hands clasped together around Downer's back. He's all about the action.
Downer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haled keeps working.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Downer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dave Downer will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!



Downer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Haled tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Downer is in Haled's guard.
Haled is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Downer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Haled is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Downer stands and steps away. Haled gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Haled is stalling here. Downer is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Haled seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Downer has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Downer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Downer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Haled is looking for a sweep.
Haled is trying to control Downer's posture but Downer avoids it.
Haled manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Downer drops an elbow to the side of Haled's head.
Downer seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Downer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Downer content to control rather than advance.
Haled is looking to improve his position.
Haled trying to control but Downer postures up.
Haled tries to get to full guard but Downer has control of the leg.
Haled is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Downer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Downer's back!
Downer manages to reverse the position and now he's in Haled's guard. Nice work there by Downer.

Haled not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Haled tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Haled looking for a triangle here. Downer is fighting it but it looks tight! Haled pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Downer is tapping out - this one is all over!
