PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddie Figgjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Figgjo comes to the ring accompanied by Edward Grieg. Cash is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Folsom Prison Blues. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Freddie Figgjo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Cash!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Figgjo. No joy for Cash on that attempt.
Figgjo shoots in looking for a takedown. Cash tries to sprawl out of it but Figgjo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Cash manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Figgjo misses with a straight right.
Cash is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cash tries to close the distance and clinch up but Figgjo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cash pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Cash shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cash was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Figgjo is controlling an arm, preventing Cash from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Figgjo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Cash wants to take Figgjo's back here but Figgjo is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Figgjo tries to reverse the position but Cash maintains control.

Cash working for a guillotine from mount but Figgjo is in no mood to give up.
Cash thowing shots but they're missing.
Figgjo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cash is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Figgjo has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Figgjo!

Figgjo is really struggling to control Cash but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Figgjo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Figgjo pushes down on Cash's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Cash tries to roll over but Figgjo keeps him under control.
Cash looks gassed!

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Figgjo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cash has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Cash is wriggling around trying to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cash can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cash is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Figgjo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cash is surviving well by controlling Figgjo's body position as best he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cash working to try and regain half guard.
Figgjo trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Cash is wriggling around trying to escape.

Figgjo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cash can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cash tries to reverse the position but Figgjo maintains control.
Figgjo pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Cash is working to get back to half guard.
Cash really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Figgjo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Figgjo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cash manages to avoid the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freddie Figgjo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Cash scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cash is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Figgjo is just riding it out for now. Cash eventually gives up the hold.

Figgjo gets full guard.

Figgjo is looking to sinch up a triangle. Cash throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Figgjo's body to avoid the submission. Figgjo has instead reached around Cash's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Figgjo arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Freddie Figgjo!
