Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Klaus Schankelies ! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerd Stenner! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stenner misses with a takedown and Schankelies counters with a lovely shot to the body. Schankelies throws a body punch but Stenner moves out of range. Stenner feints and as Schankelies raises his hands in defense, Stenner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Stenner trying to control but Schankelies is working from the bottom. Schankelies is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stenner defends well. Stenner missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Stenner drops back looking for a leg! Schankelies is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schankelies manages to kick Stenner off! Stenner jumps back into Schankelies 's guard. Schankelies looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Stenner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schankelies sprawls well. Schankelies wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stenner gets slowly back to his feet. A looping hook to the body misses from Schankelies . Stenner does a little dance to reset his feet. Stenner gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Schankelies counters with a lovely shot to the body. Klaus Schankelies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schankelies throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stenner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Schankelies is in Stenner's guard. Schankelies has gone for a leg lock! Stenner slips out almost immediately though and dives into Schankelies 's guard. Schankelies has his foot on Stenner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stenner works his way back into a safe position though. Stenner throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Schankelies throws his legs up looking for a submission but Stenner uses it to pass to side control.
Stenner throws an elbow but Schankelies slips to the side and avoids it well. Stenner connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Schankelies some visible discomfort.

Stenner is looking to take a break and control but Schankelies is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Schankelies is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stenner off and has taken his back! Stenner showing good submission defense here.

And that's the end of the fight! Klaus Schankelies showed his dominance in that final round. Well Schankelies has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The fight is ruled a majority draw! Klaus Schankelies retains his title. It's always disappointing when a championship fight ends as a draw but that's what happens when you leave the fight in the judges hands!
