Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Farid Bashir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Farid Bashir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, George Gilbert!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilbert swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bashir counters with a leg kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Gilbert misses the target.
Gilbert misses with the combination.
Gilbert misses with a straight right.
Gilbert moves in looking to clinch but Bashir pushes him off.
Bashir keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bashir rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gilbert moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gilbert shoots in for a double leg but Bashir sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gilbert uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bashir.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gilbert changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bashir tries to avoid it but Gilbert manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bashir to the ground. Bashir escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gilbert throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gilbert with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bashir to score with a decent uppercut.

The fight stays on the outside here - Gilbert looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bashir throws a left that rocks Gilbert and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Bashir dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Gilbert regain composure!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Bashir blocks the strikes from Gilbert.

Bashir is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gilbert's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gilbert is trying to control Bashir's posture but Bashir avoids it.

Gilbert is trying to get back to half guard.
Bashir decides to stand back up. Bashir steps back and let's Gilbert get back to his feet.
Gilbert misses with a wild combination.
Gilbert moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Bashir slaps away a takedown attempt from Gilbert, before circling back to the center of the mat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bashir tests Gilbert's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Bashir lands a leg kick that knocks Gilbert off balance momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gilbert is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bashir.

Gilbert will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gilbert changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bashir looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gilbert tries to move to mount but Bashir blocks the move with his legs.
Gilbert swings around for an armbar but Bashir sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gilbert's guard.
Gilbert wants to sweep here but Bashir controlling him for the moment.
Bashir decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gilbert, up you get!

Gilbert will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A punch lands to the side of Bashir 's head but he takes it in his stride.

George Gilbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bashir stalks Gilbert and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gilbert's face. Gilbert staggers backwards, shaken.
Gilbert is still on wobbly legs! Can Bashir finish him?
Bashir displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gilbert throws out the jab.
Gilbert seems to have recovered his senses.

and Bashir cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bashir scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gilbert shoots for a takedown but Bashir saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bashir darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
The fighters circling - Gilbert throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bashir throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Gilbert misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gilbert might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Bashir throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gilbert stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Bashir lands a really nice looking cross but Gilbert seems unphased.

and Bashir counters with a good low kick that Gilbert was not able to check.

Bashir decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gilbert throws a lazy uppercut
and Bashir counters with a left right combination that sends Gilbert crashing to the mat - Bashir wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Gilbert out for a TKO! Devastating finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Farid Bashir!
A determined Farid Bashir didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
