PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maubee Away (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Wild (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Away comes to the cage accompanied by Rude Boy Dreams. Wild comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Type O Negative - Love You to Death kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Maubee Away has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Maubee Away!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jared Wild!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wild tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wild misses with a body kick.
Wild scores with a kick to the midsection.
Wild throws a head kick that misses.
Wild throws a head kick that misses.
Away looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
An inside leg kick lands from Wild.
Wild feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Away's calf.
Away takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wild takes a swing at Away's ribcage but misses.
Good shot there by Wild.
Wild throws a lazy uppercut

and Away counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Wild on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Away perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wild looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wild looks winded!
Away sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Away has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Wild wants to improve his position but Away is controlling well.
Away controlling the action here.

Maubee Away has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Wild pivots, looking for a leg kick but Away is out of range and Wild settles back down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big right from Wild misses.
Away blocks a head kick by Wild.
Away shoots in but Wild avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wild jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wild tries a head kick but it misses.

Wild gets caught flat footed, as Away shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wild can do anything to dispel that myth.
Away trying to control but Wild is working from the bottom.
Away trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Away trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Away sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Away might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Away stopping the sweep attempt from Wild.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Away with a flurry of punches that miss.
Away lands a couple of digs.
Away's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Away scoring with some ground and pound.
Away advances to half guard.
Wild is not content to let Away control the position.
Wild on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Away drops an elbow to the side of Wild's head.
Away lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Away connects with a nice short shot to Wild's temple.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wild is looking for a sweep. Away is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ground and pound from Away.
Away is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Wild is looking to get back to is feet but Away passes into side control.
Wild tries to buck Away off but Away is having none of it.
Away scoring with punches from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Away advances nicely into full mount.
Wild is bucking up trying to escape but Away cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Away working Wild over with strikes here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Away is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wild can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Wild is rocked!
Wild takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Away's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Maubee Away!
An out of breath Maubee Away thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
