Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian McDunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDunn has chosen Lost In Forever-P.O.D. as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Gates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian McDunn! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDunn moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. McDunn thows a body shot but no joy. Gates gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McDunn counters into the clinch. Nicely done. McDunn is trying to push Gates away but Gates has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. McDunn prevents the takedown attempt.
McDunn wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Gates. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gates has dropped down and is working for a takedown. McDunn is trying to keep an underhook but Gates manages to get the takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! McDunn keeping control of the position. Gates is controlling the pace.

Gates is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McDunn doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gates. Gates has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. McDunn is trying to stand back up but Gates is controlling him
Gates working over McDunn with some ground and pound. McDunn looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gates is looking to take a break and control but McDunn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gates missing with the ground and pound from half guard. McDunn has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. McDunn is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gates wants to work for an arm triangle but McDunn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gates drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gates jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. McDunn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Gates engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Gates trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gates distracts McDunn with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDunn pulls Gates in close to prevent any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ian McDunn. McDunn scores with a jab. Gates acknowledges it with a nod of the head. McDunn looks to land a combination. Gates sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Ian McDunn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McDunn connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gates momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McDunn thuds a left hand into Gates's body. McDunn fails in his attempt to clinch. Nice sprawl there from McDunn as Gates shoots in. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ian McDunn dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
McDunn throws a half hearted mid kick. McDunn takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. McDunn scores with a jab. McDunn throws a chopping leg kick but Gates manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Ian McDunn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gates. McDunn fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. McDunn misses with a wild combination.

Gates shoots in for a takedown but McDunn shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDunn misses with a low kick. Gates tries to move into range but McDunn moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Gates shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McDunn sprawls well. McDunn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gates gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Gates. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice cross by McDunn. McDunn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gates on the side of the head. Gates shoots in looking for a takedown. McDunn tries to sprawl out of it but Gates keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McDunn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. McDunn connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gates's hands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gates avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fighters circle momentarily. McDunn darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. McDunn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gates swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gates shoots in and bounces McDunn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Gates trying to control but McDunn is working from the bottom. Gates controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McDunn wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gates trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McDunn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gates's guard. Gates tries to land a sweep but no joy. McDunn sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Gates doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! McDunn paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Gates - great work!
