PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gustav Grimwald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morgan Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grimwald comes into the arena with NoMeansNo - Mr. In Between blaring out of the sound system. Morgan Freeman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gustav Grimwald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Morgan Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Grimwald avoids the body shot from Freeman.
Grimwald connects with a nice looking jab.
Freeman attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Freeman loads up on a big right hand but Grimwald slips the punch.
Freeman misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grimwald.
Freeman thows a body shot but no joy.
Freeman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Freeman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grimwald manages to avoid it.
Grimwald feints and then cracks Freeman's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Freeman down.
Grimwald thumps Freeman with a low kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Freeman misses the target.
Morgan Freeman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice defenses there by Grimwald.
Grimwald takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Grimwald lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Freeman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grimwald manages to avoid it.
Grimwald avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've been hearing reports that Grimwald has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Grimwald throws a sloppy head kick and Freeman moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Grimwald misses the target.
Freeman takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Grimwald connects with a single shot there.
Grimwald cracks the inside of Freeman's front leg.
Freeman throws the left hand but Grimwald avoids the punch easily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Freeman lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Grimwald has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Grimwald and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Grimwald's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Grimwald duly obliges.
Freeman ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grimwald takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Grimwald lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Grimwald throws a sloppy head kick and Freeman moves out of range easily.
Grimwald slips under a jab from Freeman.
Good work by Grimwald as he checks the leg kick.
Freeman lands a jab to the nose.
Grimwald uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Freeman.
Freeman misses with a straight left.
Freeman misses with a wild body shot.
Freeman throws an overhand right that lands on Grimwald's shoulder, as Grimwald tries to avoid the shot.
Freeman's coach down at Australian Xtreme Elite Stand Up Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Freeman's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Grimwald slips a jab from Freeman.
Freeman scores with a punch to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Grimwald. Freeman shrugs it off though.
Grimwald throws a shot to the body.
Freeman misses with a telegraphed body shot
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Freeman misses with an uppercut.
Nice uppercut there from Freeman.
Freeman just misses with a punch to the body.
Freeman tries to land a leg kick but Grimwald saw it coming and moves away.
Freeman throws a jab but it's blocked by Grimwald.
Freeman swings for the body but Grimwald moves out of range.
Freeman throws out a loose jab but Grimwald uses good head movement to avoid it.
Freeman throws a body punch but Grimwald moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Freeman, as that shot connected.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Freeman lands a jab to the nose.
Freeman digs a good hook to Grimwald's body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grimwald on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Freeman connects with the punch.
Grimwald lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Grimwald keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Grimwald uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Freeman has time to react.
Freeman looks to land a right hand but Grimwald moved out of range.
Freeman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Freeman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grimwald moves away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Freeman throws a looping overhand right but Grimwald ducks down to avoid it.
Nice uppercut there from Grimwald.
Grimwald chopping away at his opponent's legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Morgan Freeman will probably get the nod.
That's time! Grimwald's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Freeman thows a leg kick but Grimwald checks it

and Grimwald counters with a nice double leg into side control. Freeman won't be happy with that.
Grimwald is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Freeman will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Freeman tries to bench press Grimwald off him but Grimwald keeps the position.
A control attempt from Freeman but he's now mounted!
Grimwald with shots to the head and body - Freeman looks very uncomfortable down there.


It looks like Morgan Freeman has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Grimwald scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That has opened up Morgan Freeman's cut even more.

Grimwald lands a big shot there that rocks Freeman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


The cut above Morgan Freeman's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Grimwald tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Grimwald wants to finish this one by submission but Freeman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Grimwald.

Morgan Freeman's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Morgan Freeman's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Gustav Grimwald!
Gustav Grimwald seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
