Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Holman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Holman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Severn! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holman's jab looks to have found its range, popping Severn under the eye. Severn misses with a takedown and Holman counters with a lovely shot to the body. Severn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Holman leaves Severn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Holman clinches up against the cage. Holman tries to throw a body punch but Severn avoids it by throwing Holman back against the cage. Severn tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kyle Holman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Severn. Severn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Holman pulls him back up using the underhooks. Severn looking for a takedown. Holman lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A short left from Holman. Holman tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Holman scores with a nice hook to the head. Holman misses with a hook from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holman lands a right hand. Holman tries a body shot but Severn blocks it.
Holman lands with a short shot to the head. Severn is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Holman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Holman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Holman throws a right and a left that Severn avoids nicely. Severn takes a shot right to the bread basket. Dan Severn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Holman throws a right hand that Severn ducks under and follows up with a left that Severn also avoids with ease. Holman connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. The fight moves into the clinch position. Severn tries for a takedown but Holman manages to get underhooks.
Holman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Holman lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Severn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Holman tries to avoid it but Severn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Holman to the ground. Holman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We've been told by Holman's head coaches at Thunder Dome that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Holman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Severn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Horrible takedown by Severn or perhaps it was just good defense by Holman which made him look bad. Holman fails to land with a series of punches.
Severn shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Holman counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Severn keeps the fight on the outside. Kyle Holman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Holman tries to clinch but fails miserably and Severn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Holman won't be happy with that. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Severn prevents Holman from escaping the position. Severn is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Holman will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Severn scores with a couple of short elbows. Severn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Holman keeps working. Severn in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Holman is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dan Severn! After winning the bout, Dan Severn thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
