Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Howlingate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sandro Poletto! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Poletto tries a head kick but it misses.
Howlingate lands a right hook to the body.
Howlingate changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Howlingate finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Poletto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. No joy there for Howlingate, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Howlingate slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Howlingate pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Poletto back to the ropes. Howlingate follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Sandro Poletto has been cut. Howlingate catches Poletto napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Poletto to the canvas!
Poletto can't keep his opponent in guard - Howlingate advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Howlingate is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Poletto sees it coming and defends easily. Howlingate wants to stand up but Poletto has a hold of him and won't allow it. Poletto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Howlingate. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Poletto is trying to get back to full guard. Howlingate tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. Howlingate stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Poletto to get to his feet. Howlingate will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Howlingate lands a jab. Howlingate throws a right hand that Poletto ducks under and follows up with a left that Poletto also avoids with ease. A punch combination from Howlingate misses. Poletto forces Howlingate back against the ropes and clinches. Poletto with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Poletto tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Howlingate avoids it. Poletto is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Howlingate is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Poletto manages to break the clinch.
A head kick misses from Poletto. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Howlingate looks to score with a jab to the body but Poletto is just out of range. Poletto misses with a kick to the body.

It looks like Roger Howlingate has been cut. Howlingate tries to bum rush Poletto with a series of wild strikes but Poletto uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Poletto throws a head kick that misses. Poletto on the wrong end of a nice jab. Howlingate rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Poletto moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Poletto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Poletto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Howlingate throws a shot from downtown. Poletto moves away and avoids it. Poletto lands a big head kick that sends Howlingate tumbling to the mat! Poletto takes a step backwards and waves Howlingate back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Howlingate is rocked! Howlingate is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Poletto Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Howlingate is out cold, face down on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Sandro Poletto!
