Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gawain Lot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Madness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lot might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Game of Thrones. Madness has chosen SHOWDOWN as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gawain Lot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Madness! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lot displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Madness throws out the jab. Madness fails with a takedown attempt. Madness shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lot defends it nicely. Madness tries to clinch there but Lot circles away.
Lot swats away the attempt to clinch by Madness. Madness misses with a series of wild punches.
Madness stuffs the takedown attempt from Lot. Lot gets slowly back to his feet. Lot tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Madness was well out of range. Poor timing from Lot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madness ducks under a wild hook from Lot. Madness is looking to clinch. Madness instigates a clinch. Lot gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Madness won't allow Lot to pass to mount. Lot is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Lot wants to take a breather but Madness is having none of it. Madness tries to get to full guard but Lot has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Madness is still trying to improve position. Madness trying to control here.
Madness tries to roll over but Lot keeps him under control. Lot takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Madness has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at MediEval. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Lot wants to lay and pray for a moment but Madness keeps working. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Madness looking for submissions off his back. Madness wants to control but Lot is keeping busy and won't allow it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gawain Lot will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Lot scores with a takedown into Madness's guard. Lot throws a big elbow that misses. Lot postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lot controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Madness is trying to hold Lot in close to prevent damage but Lot has managed to pass into half guard.
Madness avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lot. Lot slips a nice elbow through Madness's hands, connecting with Madness's forehead. Madness is looking to control Lot's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Madness avoid being mounted? We've been hearing that Lot has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Lot is controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madness trying to control but Lot postures up.
Lot looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Madness regains full guard. Nicely done. Lot lands a couple of digs. Lot won't allow Madness to sweep him here. Lot controls from within his opponent's guard. Madness is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lot throwing strikes but missing. Madness working a defensive guard here.
Madness trying to control the position here. Lot has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lot trying to control the position from guard on top but Madness is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Madness tries to clinch up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Madness takes the fight into the clinch. Lot misses with a shot to the kidneys.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gawain Lot dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Madness throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Madness tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lot swings for the body but Madness moves out of range.
Madness swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Madness lands a head shot. Madness throws a leg kick but Lot sees it coming and checks it nicely. Madness jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lot misses the shot to the body. Lot misses with a looping left. Madness tries to close the distance and clinch but Lot swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lot drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Madness is trying to control Lot's posture but Lot avoids it. Madness is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madness is looking to reverse the position. Lot tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Madness is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Lot tries to advance to mount but Madness denies him. Lot landing strikes. Madness prevents Lot from moving into mount. Who's going to make the next move? Madness gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Madness is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Gawain Lot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Madness is trying to escape the mount.
Madness manages to regain half guard. Good work. Madness gets full guard. Lot is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Madness throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Lot trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Madness escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lot gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Madness keeping moving, preventing Lot from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but Gawain Lot did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lot tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Madness was well out of range. Poor timing from Lot. Madness fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lot manages to avoid it. Madness shoots in for a double leg but Lot sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lot throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Madness was covering up waiting for the punch and Lot finishes the takedown easily into guard. Madness looking for a guillotine here but Lot defends easily.
Lot trying to control the position from guard on top but Madness is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Madness is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madness keeps trying to improve his position. Lot lands a couple of elbows. Lot is looking to work some ground and pound but Madness has wrist control. Lot works a leg free and moves into half guard. Lot with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Madness won't allow Lot to pass to mount. Lot controlling the pace. Madness manages to get to full guard.
Madness utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lot missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Madness has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lot has passed into side control.
Madness tries to buck Lot off but Lot is having none of it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Madness parries the strikes from Lot easily there. Lot is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Madness to escape.

Gawain Lot had his way with James Madness in that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Madness misses with a looping left. A punch combination from Madness misses. A bone on bone clash there as Lot blocks the leg kick.
Lot closes the distance and clinches up with Madness, looking for a takedown. Lot pushes Madness against the ropes but Madness circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Lot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Madness pinned against the ropes. Madness gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Madness tries to clinch there but Lot circles away.
Lot throws a looping overhand right but Madness ducks down to avoid it.

and Madness counters with a single leg into guard. Lot didn't expect that. Lot wants to control the position but Madness says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Lot moves into full guard.
Madness trying to control but Lot is working from the bottom. Lot wants to sweep here but Madness controlling him for the moment. Lot is trying to control the position but Madness postures up. Madness sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lot's guard. Lot is looking for a sweep. Madness is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

This has been an exciting period of action! Madness is trying to control. Lot wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lot is trying to get back to full guard. Madness not doing much here.
Madness is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Lot to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lot wants to sweep here but Madness controlling him for the moment.
