Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renan Batarao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Herrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Javier Herrero will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batarao throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Herrero throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Batarao checks the leg kick nicely there.
Renan Batarao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Batarao misses.
Herrero throws a low kick, looking for Batarao's leg but Batarao calmly moves out of range.
Batarao shoots in for a takedown but Herrero shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Herrero lands a slapping body shot.
A decent looking cross lands there for Herrero.

It looks like Renan Batarao has been cut.
No luck for Batarao with that takedown attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Herrero gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Batarao wants to control from the top but Herrero keeps moving.
Herrero is trying to keep Batarao in close.
Batarao will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Batarao is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Batarao stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Batarao looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Batarao closes the distance and clinches up with Herrero, looking for a takedown. Batarao pushes Herrero against the cage but Herrero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renan Batarao. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Batarao looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Herrero has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Batarao is working away from the top position though.
Herrero wants to improve his position but Batarao is controlling well.
Batarao wants to free his trapped foot but Herrero is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Herrero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Batarao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Batarao is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Herrero doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Batarao.

Batarao in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Herrero tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Batarao!
