Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aaron Lancing! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Mullins! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lancing shoots in and bounces Mullins off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Mullins avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lancing controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Mullins can't keep his opponent in guard - Lancing advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Mullins trying to control but Lancing postures up.
Lancing is taking a breather. Mullins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Lancing decides to return to a standing position. Mullins shoots for a double leg takedown but Lancing sprawls well. He's pushed Mullins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mullins darts in trying to clinch and Lancing counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mullins gets tackled into the cage by Lancing. Lancing maintains the clinch. Lancing breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mullins looks to score with a jab to the body but Lancing is just out of range. Lancing forces Mullins back against the cage and clinches. Lancing manages to pull guard.
Mullins trying to control the position from guard on top but Lancing is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lancing might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mullins tries to free his leg and advance position but Lancing is retaining full guard. Mullins looking to sit in guard and control but Lancing gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Mullins working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lancing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lancing's corner is telling him to maintain position. Mullins preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mullins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lancing works a leg free and moves into half guard. Lancing landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lancing not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lancing seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Lancing moves into full mount! Mullins won't be happy about that! Mullins is desperately trying to improve his position but Lancing has a good base and remains in mount. Mullins is in a horrible position here. Lancing smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lancing landing strikes from the mount and Mullins is in trouble! Lancing controlling from mount. Oooh a big shot lands for Lancing! Mullins is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
