Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Emong Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikko Hovimaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salvacion's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Till I Collapse. Emong Salvacion had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Emong Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Hovimaki!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salvacion shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hovimaki manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hovimaki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hovimaki can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've been hearing good reports from Salvacion's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Salvacion cracks Hovimaki with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Salvacion lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Salvacion misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Hovimaki stuffs the takedown.
Salvacion changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hovimaki tries to avoid it but Salvacion manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hovimaki to the ground. Hovimaki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hovimaki ducks right into an uppercut from Salvacion.
Salvacion throws a head kick that misses.

Salvacion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hovimaki's guard.

Salvacion throws a strike but Hovimaki rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Salvacion manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Salvacion is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hovimaki gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hovimaki wants to get back to striking at distance but Salvacion won't allow it.

Hovimaki stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hovimaki wants it to stay on the feet.
No luck for Salvacion with that takedown attempt.
Salvacion shoots in but Hovimaki avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Salvacion rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hovimaki moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Salvacion tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hovimaki sprawls well. Hovimaki wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Salvacion gets slowly back to his feet.
Emong Salvacion is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Horrible takedown by Salvacion or perhaps it was just good defense by Hovimaki which made him look bad.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hovimaki but Hovimaki pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Salvacion shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Salvacion is nestled in close to Hovimaki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
