Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Isa Musa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ola John! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Musa scores with a jab to the jaw. John has Musa up against the cage in a clinch.
John trying to land knees to the body.
John is looking to control Musa's arms but Musa gets an underhook and turns him. Now John has his back to the cage. Musa blocks an uppercut.
John drops down looking for an ankle pick but Musa pulls his leg out and moves away.
John throws out a loose jab but Musa uses good head movement to avoid it. Musa throws a looping overhand right but John ducks down to avoid it. A punch lands to the side of John 's head but he takes it in his stride. Musa throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Musa misses with an uppercut
and John counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. John throwing strikes from guard but Musa blocks nicely. John stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Musa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. John trying to control the position from guard on top but Musa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. John stands and throws Musa's legs to the side, diving into side control. John tries for a kimura but Musa is defending well. Musa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Musa tries to get out of the position. Musa managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by John.

Musa's coaches at Russian Top Team (elite gym) have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Musa tries to buck John off but John is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
John wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Musa, who protects the arm well. Musa tries to bench press John off him but John keeps the position. Musa is not content to let John control the position. John is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Musa has escaped the position, nice work there. Musa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but John wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. John throwing strikes but Musa manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Musa working away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. John is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Musa in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. John manages to get back to half guard. John actively working from the bottom here. John is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Musa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Musa's back! John thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. John throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John keeps control of the position as Musa tries to break free.
John is not going to allow Musa to sit and survive in this position. Musa is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if John gets his way!

That's four minutes gone in the round. John missing with strikes from the back. Musa holding both John 's hands and preventing any damage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. I really don't envy Musa right now.
John looking for the choke but no joy. John tries to keep control of the position but Musa is staying busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Musa tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Musa is looking to improve his position but John isn't that keen on the idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Musa lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. A jab from Musa does it's job there. Musa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

so John counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Musa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for John on the ground. John trying to control but Musa is working from the bottom. Musa is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. John forces his way into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Musa is not content to let John control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Musa regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from John. John trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. John is fighting to break Musa's control of his arms but Musa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. John trying to control the position from guard on top but Musa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ola John has got the better of the ground game so far. John preventing the sweep.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. John misses with an attempted mid kick.
The fighters circle momentarily. Musa darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. John lands with a kick to the temple. Musa shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Musa looks to land a right hand but John moved out of range. Musa shoots in and gets a takedown into John's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Musa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! John working for a triangle but Musa defends it easily.

John avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Musa stands up over John, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. John manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Musa manages to get himself to full guard.

John drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Musa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now John has Musa in his guard. Musa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Musa connects with a couple of short punches. Musa trying to control but John is working from the bottom. John wants to sweep here but Musa controlling him for the moment. John keeping full guard, as Musa tries to pass. Musa preventing the sweep. Musa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. John trying to keep a closed guard but Musa is proving a slippery customer.
John lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Musa! John thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Musa working to try and regain half guard.

John is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. John seems to be looking for submissions.

A close second round but Ola John will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Musa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. John tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Musa is in John's guard. John is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Musa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Musa wants to stand but John has a closed guard, so he can't escape. John keeping moving, preventing Musa from controlling successfully. John is trying to control the position but Musa postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. John bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Musa's guard. Musa is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. John throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Musa works some decent striking defense from the bottom. John with a flurry of punches that miss. John advances to half guard. John is looking to advance position but Musa won't allow it. John landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Musa wants to improve his position but John is controlling well.
John is looking for a kimura but Musa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for John to get the leverage. Musa wants to improve his position but John is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Musa has managed to free his arm - good work. John looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Musa preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. John trying to pass the guard but Musa defending well. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Musa gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. John trying to control but Musa is working from the bottom. Musa wants to get back to his feet but John is in a dominant position and won't allow it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as John accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Musa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from John. John throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Musa works some decent striking defense from the bottom. John throws a big elbow that misses. John wants to control from the top but Musa keeps moving. John throws a big right hand that misses. Musa is trying to control the position but John postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. John advances position into side control! John wants to control but Musa is keeping him busy. John is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Musa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Isa Musa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ola John is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. An elbow from John crashes against the mat.
Musa is not content to let John control the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. John in side control, just content to control the action for now. Musa tries to improve position but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Ola John comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got John winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
