Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Martin Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 37 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes throws a head kick that misses

and Schwarzeneg moves into the clinch.
Hughes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Schwarzeneg gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Schwarzeneg tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hughes just stands there and leans against the cage.
Schwarzeneg jumps guard but Hughes stands there with Schwarzeneg around his waist. Schwarzeneg gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hughes has Schwarzeneg pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hughes pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Schwarzeneg tumbling to the mat - Hughes dives into Schwarzeneg's guard.

Schwarzeneg manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hughes manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schwarzeneg swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Martin Hughes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hughes as he jumps to the side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Schwarzeneg swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hughes sprawls well. Hughes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Schwarzeneg gets slowly back to his feet.

Schwarzeneg throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hughes's waist but Hughes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schwarzeneg off to one side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Schwarzeneg enables Hughes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Schwarzeneg manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Schwarzeneg felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Hughes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Schwarzeneg can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Schwarzeneg shoots in looking for a takedown. Hughes tries to sprawl out of it but Schwarzeneg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hughes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Schwarzeneg takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Horrible takedown by Hughes or perhaps it was just good defense by Schwarzeneg which made him look bad.

Well Hughes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
