Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Do comes into the arena with The Godfather Theme Song blaring out of the sound system. Hoover has chosen Ecstasy of Gold as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Do! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Hoover! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Hoover enables Do to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hoover manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Do working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Do is looking to work some ground and pound but Hoover has wrist control. Do looking to pass the guard. Hoover looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Do has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Do throws a big elbow that misses. Hoover seems keen to control Do's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Edgar Hoover. Hoover with a lazy takedown attempt and Do counters with a three punch combo that has Hoover backing up. Hoover nods at Do to acknowledge the strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Do swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hoover counters with a single leg into guard. Do didn't expect that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoover wants to control from the top but Do keeps moving. Do avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hoover throwing strikes but missing. Hoover postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hoover throws an elbow that misses. Do uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hoover's guard. Hoover shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Hoover not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Do avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hoover. Hoover sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Do defending well though. Hoover missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hoover throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hoover thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hoover wants to take a breather but Do is having none of it. Hoover looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Hoover throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoover moves nicely into side control. Hoover trying to control the action but Do is working from the bottom. Hoover controls the position from side control. Hoover creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Do sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hoover throws a strike aimed at the side of Do's head but Do avoids it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Edgar Hoover dominated that round. That's time! Do's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hoover misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hoover shoots and misses and Do counters with a two punch combo. Do swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A jab from Do misses. Do throws a combination that misses and Hoover counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Do utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hoover loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Do is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoover is looking for a sweep. Do is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Do is thwarting Hoover's attempts to control the position. We've been hearing that Do has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Do working over Hoover with some ground and pound. Hoover looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Do thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hoover's head. Do seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hoover does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hoover won't allow Do to pass to mount. Hoover blocking the ground and pound attempt from Do. Hoover gets back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Our spies down at at Wax on Wax off 'Dojo inform us that Hoover has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Hoover scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Hoover shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Do as he avoids it easily. Michael Do has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edgar Hoover. Do will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Do in side control, throwing shots but Hoover defends.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Do is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Do wants to control from the top but Hoover keeps moving. Do works a leg free and moves into half guard. Do throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hoover is trying to maintain the position but Do is very close to passing his half guard. Hoover has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Do landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Do is working for a submission of some sort.

Not yet Hoover, not yet. Do trying to control the position from guard on top but Hoover is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Do throws an elbow that misses. Hoover uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Do's guard. Nice move by Hoover! Hoover loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Do pulls Hoover in close to prevent any damage.

Hoover stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Do swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hoover with a flurry of punches that miss. Hoover throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Do works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Do can't keep his opponent in guard - Hoover advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Do avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hoover.
And that's the end of the fight! Michael Do showed his dominance in that final round. I think Do has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Michael Do! Michael Do retains his light heavyweight title! After the fight, Michael Do was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
