PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sullivan Damerrs Sr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damerrs Sr has chosen WWE Daniel Bryan Theme Song 2013 as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sullivan Damerrs Sr!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ho shoots in for a double leg but Damerrs Sr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ho misses with a body kick.
Ho has his takedown stuffed

and Damerrs Sr counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Damerrs Sr drops an elbow to the side of Ho's head.
Still in half guard, Damerrs Sr seems content to control.
Ho tries to roll over but Damerrs Sr keeps him under control.

Damerrs Sr is working for a kimura but Ho is defending it quite comfortably.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Damerrs Sr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Damerrs Sr is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Damerrs Sr perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ho has hold of Damerrs Sr's hands but Damerrs Sr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Damerrs Sr is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Let's hope that Damerrs Sr has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Damerrs Sr tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Ho.
Damerrs Sr has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ho really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Damerrs Sr content to control rather than advance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
It looks like Damerrs Sr might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sullivan Damerrs Sr.

and Damerrs Sr counters with a single leg into guard. Ho didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Ho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Damerrs Sr chips away with some ground and pound.
Damerrs Sr wants to stand but Ho has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Damerrs Sr scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Ho knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Damerrs Sr on the ground.

Ho is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ho tries to kick Damerrs Sr off in order to stand up. Damerrs Sr Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Damerrs Sr cracks Ho with an elbow. That is naaassty.
You can see the frustration on Ho's face as Damerrs Sr controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Damerrs Sr shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Damerrs Sr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ho is proving hard to escape from.

Damerrs Sr's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sullivan Damerrs Sr hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ho might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Damerrs Sr is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ho sees it coming and defends easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Damerrs Sr lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sullivan Damerrs Sr hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ho wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Damerrs Sr is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ho!
Damerrs Sr is landing with some decent strikes but Ho is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Damerrs Sr working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Ho looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Damerrs Sr! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Sullivan Damerrs Sr!
Sullivan Damerrs Sr really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that KAISER logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
