Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fredie Jewel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sailor Gracie! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jewel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jewel lands a nice shot that snaps Gracie's head back.
Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Gracie pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Jewel forces Gracie back against the cage and clinches. Gracie tries to pull guard but Jewel holds him up against the cage and eventually Gracie drops back down to his feet.
Jewel pulls guard successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Gracie wants to control from the top but Jewel keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jewel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gracie, into his guard. Jewel controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Gracie throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jewel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gracie is tightening it up a little... Jewel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jewel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jewel taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gracie!
