PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Knott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jar Krohn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krohn has chosen I Am Hollywood as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jake Knott has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jake Knott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jar Krohn!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Krohn is defended easily by Knott.
Knott throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Krohn looks to clinch
and Knott counters with a three punch combo that has Krohn backing up. Krohn nods at Knott to acknowledge the strikes.

Knott rushes Krohn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Knott avoiding damage.
Krohn tries for a takedown but Knott manages to get underhooks.

Knott decides to pull guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Knott has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Krohn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Knott avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Krohn wants to pass the guard but Knott is keeping the position.
Knott tries to strike from the bottom.

Knott wriggles free and stands up.
Knott shoots in looking for a takedown. Krohn tries to sprawl out of it but Knott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Krohn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Knott throws a head kick but Krohn moves out of range.
Krohn shoots for a takedown but Knott saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jake Knott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jar Krohn.
Knott defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Krohn.
A head kick from Knott lands but Krohn takes it in his stride.


It looks like Jar Krohn has been cut.

Knott takes the fight into the clinch.
Knott is pushing Krohn up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Knott is trying to force a seperation but Krohn has the dominant position.

Krohn goes for a takedown in the clinch but Knott prevents it.

Knott decides to pull guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Knott can't keep his opponent in guard - Krohn advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Krohn lands a nice short elbow.
Krohn misses with a head shot. Knott uses the momentum to regain guard.
Krohn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Krohn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Krohn connects with a couple of short punches.
Knott wants to get back to his feet but Krohn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Krohn wants to control from the top but Knott keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Knott lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Krohn!
Krohn is trying desperately to improve position.

Knott looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Krohn is in a horrible position here. Knott smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Knott wants to finish this one by submission but Krohn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Knott.
Krohn is looking to improve his position but Knott isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Krohn fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Krohn gets tackled into the cage by Knott. Knott maintains the clinch.
Knott presses Krohn against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Knott gets underhooks to prevent Krohn's takedown attempt.
Krohn drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Knott gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jake Knott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jar Krohn.
Krohn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Knott pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Knott has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Krohn is trying to keep an underhook but Knott manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Knott tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Krohn tries to reverse the position but Knott maintains control.

Knott lands a nice shot to the head.

Knott prevents Krohn from getting the reversal.
Krohn tries to hold on but Knott postures up.
Knott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Krohn is looking to escape.

Knott stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Krohn fails in his attempt to clinch.

Krohn is looking to clinch but Knott is avoiding it.

Krohn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Knott manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Krohn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Knott.
Krohn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Knott thows a body kick. Krohn tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Jar Krohn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Krohn is breathing heavily.
No luck for Krohn with that takedown attempt.

Knott feints and as Krohn raises his hands in defense, Knott changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Knott stands and steps away. Krohn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Knott decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Krohn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Knott's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Knott's back!

Knott wants to stand and escape but Krohn is having none of it.

Krohn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Knott pulls Krohn in close to prevent any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Jake Knott wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Knott circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jake Knott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Knott changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krohn tries to avoid it but Knott manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krohn to the ground. Krohn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Krohn tries to close the distance and clinch but Knott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Krohn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Knott sprawls well. Knott wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Krohn gets slowly back to his feet.
Krohn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Knott is trying to keep Krohn in close.
Knott is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Krohn wants to get back to his feet.

Knott is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Krohn can do anything to dispel that myth.

Knott has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Krohn defend it? Knott steps over the head and cranks it - Krohn is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Knott!
