Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naruto Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Naruto Sakuraba is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Naruto Sakuraba!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sakuraba closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sakuraba thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Anderson's head.
Sakuraba with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Anderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakuraba on the ground.
It looks like Sakuraba might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Sakuraba thows a huge punch but Anderson dodges it nicely.
Sakuraba keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Naruto Sakuraba was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Sakuraba decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Anderson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sakuraba.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sakuraba is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sakuraba controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sakuraba working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Anderson's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sakuraba won't allow Anderson to sweep him here.
Sakuraba postures up and lands a big shot to Anderson's brow.
Sakuraba stops Anderson from standing up.
Sakuraba has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Anderson can't keep his opponent in guard - Sakuraba advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sakuraba seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Well, if Sakuraba is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sakuraba takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Sakuraba looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Anderson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sakuraba slows the pace down in half guard.
Sakuraba working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


Anderson is rocked!

Sakuraba decides to stand up.
Oh Anderson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sakuraba drives through and clinches with Anderson against the cage.

Sakuraba jumps into guard, dragging Anderson to the mat.
Sakuraba is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Anderson trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Sakuraba manages to pass to mount!
Anderson is breathing heavily.
Sakuraba unloading with bombs!
Sakuraba looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Anderson covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Naruto Sakuraba!
Naruto Sakuraba took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, Vitality for their support in the buildup to the fight.
