Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Schellmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuuya Ueda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ueda's choice of entrance music: UnderDog - Test Eagles. Kuuya Ueda told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schellmann circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ueda instigates a clinch.
Schellmann fails to pull guard.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ueda obliges.
Ueda connects with a nasty looking knee right to Schellmann's face.
Schellmann wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ueda has him pressed against the cage.
Ueda breaks the clinch.
Schellmann fails to land the takedown.
Ueda closes the distance and clinches.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ueda has eaten all the pies!

Ueda jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Schellmann walks away with a smile on his face. Ueda gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ueda shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ueda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schellmann paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ueda is looking to clinch but Schellmann is avoiding it.
Schellmann throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ueda counters with a nice leg kick.
Ueda tries to clinch up but Schellmann circles away and keeps his distance.
Schellmann shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ueda manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ueda wants to hit a switch here but Schellmann passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ueda there!

Ueda sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ueda moves into full guard.
Schellmann wants to control from the top but Ueda keeps moving.
Schellmann will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ueda is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Schellmann is controlling him.
Schellmann tries to free his leg and advance position but Ueda is retaining full guard.

Schellmann drops back looking for a leg! Ueda is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ueda manages to kick Schellmann off! Schellmann jumps back into Ueda's guard.
Schellmann drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ueda manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Schellmann has Ueda in his guard.

Ueda shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Schellmann pinned against the cage. Schellmann gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ueda tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Schellmann manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ueda fakes the leg kick and cracks Schellmann in the body.
A head kick misses from Ueda.
Schellmann takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ueda rushes Schellmann and presses him up against the cage.

Kuuya Ueda seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Schellmann has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ueda avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ueda tries for a takedown but Schellmann sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ueda shoots for a double leg takedown but Schellmann sprawls well. He's pushed Ueda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ueda swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Schellmann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Kuuya Ueda has been cut.

Schellmann tries to close the distance and clinch but Ueda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Schellmann is trying to trip Ueda. He has hold of a leg but Ueda is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Schellmann persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kuuya Ueda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown by Schellmann or perhaps it was just good defense by Ueda which made him look bad.
Ueda dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Schellmann. That did some damage!

Ueda tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Schellmann manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ueda shoots in looking for a takedown but Schellmann manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ueda's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Schellmann fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
We're going to have a standup here because Stefan Schellmann wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Schellmann shoots in looking for a takedown but Ueda manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Schellmann's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Schellmann manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ueda on his heels. He'll look to pass Ueda's guard now, I'm sure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stefan Schellmann.
I think Ueda has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
