PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Nathan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Zubar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronald Zubar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Nathan !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ronald Zubar!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zubar throws out a powerful jab.


It looks like Mike Nathan has been cut.
Nathan misses with a wild combination.
Nathan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zubar tries to avoid it but Nathan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zubar to the ground. Zubar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Zubar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nathan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Zubar defends well and Nathan ends up having to push Zubar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Nathan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Nathan . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zubar gets underhooks to prevent Nathan 's takedown attempt.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Zubar prevents the takedown attempt.
Nathan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Nathan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nathan takes a swing at Zubar's ribcage but misses.
Zubar has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Zubar works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Zubar drops Nathan with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Nathan ! Zubar dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ronald Zubar!
