Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sebasti Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez comes to the cage accompanied by Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks. Garcia has chosen Eminem - Not Afraid as his entrance music. Johnny Garcia told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Garcia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alvarez was covering up waiting for the punch and Garcia finishes the takedown easily into guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alvarez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Alvarez lunges at Garcia with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Garcia's hand.

Garcia is fighting to break Alvarez's control of his arms but Alvarez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Garcia working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Alvarez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
