PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Severed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morris Van Winkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dan Severed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Morris Van Winkle!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Van Winkle.
Severed keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Van Winkle tries to clinch but Severed is having none of it.
Severed throws a series of punches but Van Winkle moves out of range.
Severed rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Van Winkle counters with a nice body shot.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Van Winkle keeps control of Severed as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Severed drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Severed is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Van Winkle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Severed sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Van Winkle somewhat.
Dan Severed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Morris Van Winkle.

Severed really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Severed has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Van Winkle regains guard immediately.

Van Winkle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Severed is aware though and is defending well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Severed slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Van Winkle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Severed defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dan Severed will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Morris Van Winkle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Van Winkle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Severed but Severed pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice takedown defense from Van Winkle. No joy for Severed on that attempt.
Van Winkle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Severed tries to avoid it but Van Winkle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Severed to the ground. Severed escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Van Winkle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Severed is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dan Severed.
Severed stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Severed wants it to stay on the feet.

Van Winkle is pressing down on Severed's thigh, looking to free his foot. Severed is holding on for now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Severed wants to control but Van Winkle is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Van Winkle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Severed wants to break the clinch but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Morris Van Winkle.
I think Van Winkle has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
