Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Coleston!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coleston gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cruz looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Coleston is trying to trip Cruz. He has hold of a leg but Cruz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Coleston persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Coleston with a nice head shot there.

Coleston pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cruz is keeping the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Coleston was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Coleston dives in and scores a takedown into Cruz's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Coleston postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cruz wants to stand up but Coleston is controlling him.
Coleston is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Coleston scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Coleston is stalling in the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mike Coleston.

Cruz gets caught flat footed, as Coleston shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Coleston has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Coleston slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Coleston from controlling successfully.
Coleston passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Coleston advances nicely into full mount.
Coleston trying to control but Cruz is having none of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Coleston gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Cruz throws a sloppy head kick and Coleston moves out of range easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Coleston.

Let's hope that Coleston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cruz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Coleston has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Coleston advances to mount.
Coleston landing strikes, looking to finish!
Coleston is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cruz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Coleston tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Coleston connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Coleston takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Coleston is in the full mount, landing strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cruz squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Coleston lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Coleston sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coleston stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Coleston fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Coleston drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cruz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Coleston looks up at the clock and then as Cruz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Coleston smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Coleston working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Coleston dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cruz tries to clinch up.
Cruz tries to clinch but Coleston is having none of it.
Coleston shoots in but Cruz avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Coleston tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cruz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Joey Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Coleston shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cruz is trying to defend but Coleston finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.


Cruz is rocked!
Coleston landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Oh Cruz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Coleston is controlling the pace.
Coleston is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Coleston looking to finish Cruz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cruz!

Cruz is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Coleston locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Cruz is forced to tap!
