Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Martinez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lars Fightmann! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martinez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Fightmann drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Martinez trying to control the position.
Fightmann thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Fightmann drops back looking for a leg! Martinez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Martinez manages to kick Fightmann off! Fightmann jumps back into Martinez's guard. Fightmann is pushing down on Martinez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Martinez is fighting to maintain full guard but Fightmann has managed to sneak the leg through. Fightmann is thwarting Martinez's attempts to control the position. Martinez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Martinez striking off his back but it's not causing Fightmann any problems. Martinez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Martinez keeping full guard, as Fightmann tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fightmann postures up.
Fightmann wants to pass the guard but Martinez is keeping the position. Martinez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Fightmann looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Martinez is trying to control but can't.
Fightmann is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Fightmann is working for a guillotine from mount but Martinez frees his head quite easily.
Martinez tries to reverse the position but Fightmann maintains control. Martinez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fightmann on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fightmann fails to take his opponent's back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fightmann swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Martinez is now in Fightmann's guard. A big mistake from Fightmann there, giving up the dominant position! Fightmann is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Martinez frees his head nicely. Oh but Fightmann has switched to an armbar! Martinez is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
