Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Leroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodniel Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romero has chosen Kanye West - Amazing as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Leroy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodniel Romero!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero moves to clinch but Leroy breaks away
enabling Leroy to counter with a crisp jab.
Leroy blocks the body kick.
We've been told by Leroy's head coaches at Team 907 Assassins that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Romero misses with a wild body shot.
Romero tries to clinch up but Leroy circles away and keeps his distance.
Leroy looks to score with a jab to the body but Romero is just out of range.
Romero closes the distance but Leroy moves to the side
and Leroy counters with a left to the body.
Rodniel Romero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Romero misses the shot to the body.
Leroy throws a jab but it's blocked by Romero.
A nice combination there by Romero.
Romero tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Leroy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Leroy counters by clinching up.

Leroy is trying to push Romero away but Romero has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Leroy avoiding damage as Romero throws knees to the body.
Leroy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Leroy manages to break the clinch.
Romero fails in his attempt to clinch.
Leroy steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Romero. That one must have hurt.
Romero will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Leroy throws a nice looking combination but Romero bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Romero wants to clinch but Leroy slips to the side
and Leroy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Leroy wants to clinch up but Romero keeps it at a distance.
Romero tries to bum rush Leroy with a series of wild strikes but Leroy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A jab-cross combination lands for Romero and sends Leroy crashing to the mat! Romero follows him down to the mat - Leroy regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Leroy is rocked!


It looks like Bruce Leroy has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Romero moves nicely into side control.
Oh Leroy is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sloppy strikes there by Romero.
Leroy seems to have got his legs back now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romero tries to move into full mount but can't pass Leroy's legs.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Romero working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Romero trying to control the position but Leroy is working away.
Leroy is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Leroy is not content to let Romero control the position.
Romero controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leroy tries to escape but Romero is in control.
Leroy is looking to get back to his feet here but Romero is keeping cool and he's managed to take Leroy's back.
Leroy is keeping busy.
Leroy has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Leroy is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Romero gets his way!
Leroy trying to get back to his feet but Romero is in full control for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Romero is persistently looking for the submission but Leroy is defending it well.

Romero is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Leroy with him. Leroy is trying to defend but Romero has an arm under the chin now! Leroy grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rodniel Romero!
Rodniel Romero tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
