Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kuai Wu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kuai Wu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shaun Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anderson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We've been hearing good reports from Wu's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Anderson throws an elbow that misses. Wu uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Anderson's guard. Nice move by Wu!
Wu passes into half guard.

Wu seems to be working for a kimura but Anderson defends the submission attempt.
Anderson is controlling Wu's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Wu is trying to control the action in half guard but Anderson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Wu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Anderson is just riding it out for now. Wu eventually gives up the hold.

Wu escapes and gets back to his feet.

Anderson drives through and clinches with Wu against the cage.
Anderson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wu is defending well.
Anderson blocks the elbow strike.
Wu utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Anderson.

Anderson fails to pull guard.
Wu comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Anderson misses with a knee strike.
Anderson is trying to pull guard but Wu turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kuai Wu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Anderson.

Anderson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Anderson manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wu explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Wu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Anderson manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Wu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Anderson dives on top into guard.

Wu is trying to control the position but Anderson postures up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wu controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself.
Wu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Anderson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wu but Wu pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Anderson's waist but Anderson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wu off to one side.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Anderson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Anderson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wu's guard.
Wu slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Anderson postures up in Wu's guard and throws a big left but Wu blocks it.
Anderson lands a couple of elbows.

Anderson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wu is proving hard to escape from.
Anderson throws a strike but Wu rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Wu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shaun Anderson has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Wu tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Anderson swivels and escapes.

Anderson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wu tries to avoid it but Anderson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wu to the ground. Wu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kuai Wu.
Well Anderson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
