Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rocky Balboa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leo Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz throws a right hand that Balboa ducks under and follows up with a left that Balboa also avoids with ease. Balboa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ruiz avoids it really well and circles away. Balboa blocks a jab. Balboa fails with the takedown. Balboa rushes Ruiz and presses him up against the cage. Balboa managing to block the knees to the body from Ruiz.
Ruiz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ruiz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Balboa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruiz's waist but Ruiz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balboa off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocky Balboa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Balboa shoots in for a takedown but Ruiz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ruiz misses with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Balboa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ruiz defends it nicely. Balboa moves into the clinch. Ruiz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Balboa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ruiz's efforts to push away. Ruiz misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Balboa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Balboa fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Balboa shoots for a double leg takedown but Ruiz sprawls well. He's pushed Balboa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Balboa. Ruiz throws the left hand but Balboa avoids the punch easily. Balboa looks to land a body kick but Ruiz moved away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Balboa. Ruiz throws a hook to the side of Balboa's head but Balboa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ruiz keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Balboa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ruiz tries to avoid it but Balboa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ruiz to the ground. Ruiz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruiz misses with a lunging right hand
and Balboa counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Balboa lands a two punch combo.
Rocky Balboa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruiz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ruiz loads up on a big right hand but Balboa slips the punch. Ruiz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ruiz is looking to clinch. Balboa lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Balboa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Balboa clinches. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Balboa's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ruiz is looking to control Balboa's arms but Balboa gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ruiz has his back to the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Balboa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ruiz walks away with a smile on his face. Balboa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Balboa shoots in and drives through. Ruiz sprawls well. Balboa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruiz's waist but Ruiz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balboa off to one side. Ruiz tries to close the distance and clinch but Balboa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Balboa closes the distance and clinches up with Ruiz, looking for a takedown. Balboa pushes Ruiz against the cage but Ruiz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Horrible takedown by Balboa or perhaps it was just good defense by Ruiz which made him look bad. Ruiz checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ruiz throws a head kick but Balboa moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rocky Balboa dominated that round. That's time! Balboa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Balboa lands with a good body shot. Nice sprawl there from Ruiz as Balboa shoots in. Balboa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ruiz as he jumps to the side. Balboa moves out of range as Ruiz strikes. Balboa has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocky Balboa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruiz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rocky Balboa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ruiz there as he acknowledges the shot.
It looks like Leo Ruiz has been cut. Balboa gets a clinch. Ruiz wants to get back to striking at distance but Balboa won't allow it.
Ruiz doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Balboa drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ruiz pulls his leg out and moves away.
Balboa fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ruiz misses with a head kick.
Ruiz tries to clinch there but Balboa circles away.
Balboa lands a nice hook to Ruiz's body. Ruiz takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Balboa steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ruiz. Balboa tries to score with a low kick but Ruiz moves his leg out of the way. Balboa tries a head kick but it misses.

Ruiz is breathing heavily. Balboa feints a jab promting Ruiz to slip. Balboa then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ruiz slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Balboa shoots in for a takedown but Ruiz shows good takedown defense. Ruiz fails in his attempt to clinch. Balboa goes for a double leg but Ruiz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ruiz continues to drive forward. Balboa wants to take the fight to the mat but Ruiz manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Balboa is trying to break free. Balboa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ruiz gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Balboa is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruiz stalling in the clinch but Balboa improves position. Ruiz wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Ruiz tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Balboa is trying to pull guard but Ruiz has him pressed against the cage. Ruiz jumps guard but Balboa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Balboa working hard to break the clinch. Balboa slowing the pace effectively. Balboa tries to circle away but Ruiz has him pinned against the cage. Balboa pulls guard successfully.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Balboa tries to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Balboa striking off his back but it's not causing Ruiz any problems. Balboa is looking to stand up but Ruiz isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rocky Balboa dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Leo Ruiz's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Ruiz misses with a right hand enabling Balboa to counter with a crisp jab. Balboa closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ruiz's guard. Balboa trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Balboa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Balboa trying to control but Ruiz is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Rocky Balboa just wasn't active enough. A jab from Balboa finds it's way through Ruiz's defenses.
That's one minute gone in the round. A left and a right from Balboa both land. Nice combination. Horrible takedown by Balboa or perhaps it was just good defense by Ruiz which made him look bad. Balboa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ruiz as he avoids it easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ruiz rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Balboa tries to land knees in the clinch but Ruiz avoids the damage to the body. Balboa keeps control of Ruiz as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Balboa tries to pull guard but Ruiz won't allow it.

Balboa looking for a takedown. Balboa jumps guard and drags Ruiz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Ruiz stands up and waves to Balboa to follow him. And that's the end of the fight! Rocky Balboa showed his dominance in that final round. Well Balboa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
