PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pjotr Borgir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Borgir might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Der Erste Krieg. Stan Marsh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pjotr Borgir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Marsh!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Borgir gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Borgir is trying to control. Marsh wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Borgir is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Marsh defends it well.

Borgir drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marsh manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Borgir has Marsh in his guard.

Borgir is looking for a triangle but Marsh pushes his legs off easily.

Borgir has his foot on Marsh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marsh works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Borgir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marsh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marsh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Marsh postures up in Borgir's guard and throws a big left but Borgir blocks it.

Borgir is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Borgir is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marsh defends well.

Marsh tries to stand and escape but Borgir actually recovers to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Borgir working for a triangle but Marsh defends it easily.

Borgir is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marsh is aware though and is defending well.

Borgir throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Marsh escapes and throws Borgir's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Borgir is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Borgir is trying to maintain the position but Marsh is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pjotr Borgir dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Borgir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marsh sprawls well. Marsh wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Borgir gets slowly back to his feet.
Borgir looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Marsh wants to land a leg kick but Borgir is out of range.
Horrible takedown by Borgir or perhaps it was just good defense by Marsh which made him look bad.
Borgir closes the distance and clinches up with Marsh, looking for a takedown. Borgir pushes Marsh against the cage but Marsh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pjotr Borgir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Borgir will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Borgir is defended easily by Marsh.
Marsh throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Borgir fails with the takedown.
The crowd cheers as Marsh lands an impressive looking overhand right. Borgir doesn't seem phased though.
A slapping leg kick lands for Marsh.
Marsh swats away the attempt to clinch by Borgir.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Marsh.
Marsh connects with a body shot that sends Borgir's belly button to the back.
Marsh misses with an uppercut.
Marsh rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Borgir counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Borgir is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marsh wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Borgir is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Marsh sees it coming and defends easily.

Borgir looking for a submission but Marsh manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Marsh has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Borgir has passed into side control.

Borgir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Marsh, who protects the arm well.
Marsh wants to control but Borgir postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Borgir tries for a kimura but Marsh is defending well.

Borgir is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marsh is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Borgir is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marsh knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Borgir is working to tighten is grip on Marsh's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Marsh has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Borgir is really squeezing tight and eventually Marsh passes out! Borgir breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
