PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roger Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vince Hardy acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Roger Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vince Hardy!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardy shoots in looking for a takedown but Scott manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hardy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nice body punch from Scott.

Hardy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Scott manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Scott avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Scott manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hardy manages to get himself to full guard.
Hardy wants to sweep here but Scott controlling him for the moment.

Hardy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hardy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hardy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Scott is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Scott clobbers Hardy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Scott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hardy was well out of range. Poor timing from Scott.

It looks like Roger Scott has been cut.
Hardy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Scott is looking to wear down Hardy with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Hardy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hardy wants to control but Scott is keeping him busy.
Hardy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hardy wants to free his trapped foot but Scott is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Hardy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, if Hardy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Vince Hardy hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Scott tries to sprawl but Hardy drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Vince Hardy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hardy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Vince Hardy rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
