Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gray Matter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Hallet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hallet has chosen soilder by wiz khalifa as his entrance music. Cole Hallet has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gray Matter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cole Hallet! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matter blocks a head kick by Hallet.
Matter tries for a takedown but Hallet sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Matter fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hallet to the ground. Matter is now in Hallet's guard. Matter decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Hallet lands a high kick!
Matter fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Matter feints and as Hallet raises his hands in defense, Matter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Matter stands up from guard. Let's bang! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Matter darts in looking for a takedown but Hallet gets double underhooks and turns Matter into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gray Matter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hallet tries to break the clinch but Matter is controlling the position. Hallet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gray Matter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matter tries to land a body kick letting Hallet counter with a right hand. Matter tries for a takedown but Hallet sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hallet lands a head kick!
Matter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hallet swivels and escapes. Cole Hallet is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Matter is breathing heavily. Left hook, right uppercut from Hallet. Matter clinches up against the cage. Matter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hallet smiles and moves away.
Hallet steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Matter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hallet scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Matter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Matter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hallet tries to sprawl but Matter drives through with a takedown into half guard. Hallet keeps control of the position for the meantime. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hallet trying to control but Matter postures up.
Matter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hallet's head. Hallet tries to get to full guard but Matter has control of the leg. Hallet trying to hold on to Matter's head to control him but Matter postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hallet tries to kick Matter off but Matter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Hallet tries to roll over but Matter keeps him under control. Hallet is trying to maintain the position but Matter is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cole Hallet has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Matter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hallet was covering up waiting for the punch and Matter finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hallet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hallet trying to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hallet is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Matter defends well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gray Matter dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Matter throws a leg kick and Hallet counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Matter is lucky that one didn't land flush. Matter tries to clinch but Hallet is having none of it. Matter misses with a wild combination.
Matter dives in and grabs Hallet's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hallet pushes down on Matter's head and hops out. Hallet connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hallet forces Matter back against the cage and clinches. Hallet is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hallet pulls guard effortlessly. Hallet wants to control but Matter passes easily into half guard.
Matter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matter wants to take a breather but Hallet is having none of it. Matter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Matter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Hallet is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matter with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gray Matter wasn't doing enough on the ground. Matter wants to clinch. Matter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hallet defends it nicely. Matter shoots in but Hallet avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gray Matter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hallet misses with a series of wild punches.
Matter drives through with a takedown into Hallet's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hallet pulls Matter in to control the position. Hallet looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hallet wants to reverse the position here. Matter has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Hallet is forced to tap! Hallet looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Gray Matter!
