Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Terry Sulpizio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gene Anderson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Sulpizio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gene Anderson! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sulpizio smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Anderson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Sulpizio misses with a double jab
and Anderson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Still in half guard, Anderson seems content to control. Anderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sulpizio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sulpizio is staying active underneath Anderson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Anderson wants to free his trapped foot but Sulpizio is holding on for dear life with his legs. Sulpizio looking for submissions off his back. Anderson is trying to control. Sulpizio wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. This has been an exciting period of action!
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gene Anderson was stalling too much, according to the referee. Sulpizio throws a series of strikes that have Anderson backpedaling.
Anderson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Sulpizio lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Anderson circles away quickly and effectively. Anderson doesn't manage to clinch there - Sulpizio circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice straight punches there by Sulpizio. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Sulpizio. Sulpizio stalks Anderson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Anderson's face. Anderson staggers backwards, shaken. Sulpizio scores with a one two! Anderson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Terry Sulpizio is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sulpizio misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sulpizio goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Anderson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Anderson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sulpizio's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sulpizio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson wants to control from the top but Sulpizio keeps moving. Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sulpizio has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Sulpizio's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Anderson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Sulpizio looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sulpizio is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Anderson has his hands clasped together but Sulpizio extends and breaks Anderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Sulpizio.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Terry Sulpizio! Terry Sulpizio decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
