Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rock Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, John Nolan! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nolan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lee somewhat. Nolan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nolan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nolan pinned against the cage. Nolan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rock Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nolan defends it nicely. Nolan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Nolan looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Nolan throws a nice inside leg kick. Lee blocks a head kick by Nolan.
Lee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Lee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Nolan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lee has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee stands up and beckons Nolan to his feet. Nolan throws a head kick but Lee moves out of range.

Nolan scores with a nice head shot. Lee tries to clinch but Nolan moves out of range. Crunch! Nolan slams his shin into Lee's torso. Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Nolan sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nolan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lee looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Lee shoots in but no luck this time. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nolan feints a jab promting Lee to slip. Nolan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lee slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Nolan's guard. We've been hearing good reports from Lee's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Lee is breathing heavily. Nolan wants to stand but Lee is controlling the position. Nolan controlling Lee's posture. Lee wants to get up but he can't break Nolan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Nolan keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully. Lee content to stall in guard here. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Rock Lee just wasn't active enough. Nolan throws a head kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nolan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Lee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nolan as he avoids it easily. Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nolan's waist but Nolan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side. Lee throws a jab but it's blocked by Nolan. Nolan throws the kick towards the body but Lee avoids it. Lee fails with the takedown. Nolan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Nolan scores with a nice body kick.
Nolan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nolan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Lee takes a jab right on the kisser.
Nolan stuffs the takedown attempt from Lee. Lee gets slowly back to his feet. Nolan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Lee if he has to take too many more of those.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Nolan. That snapped Lee's head back.
Nolan is looking to land body kicks. Rock Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lee misses with a takedown and Nolan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lee is rocked! Lee blocks a head kick by Nolan.
Lee dives in for a single leg takedown but Nolan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Lee is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nolan is defending well for now. Nolan lands an uppercut. Nolan slows down the pace here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Nolan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lee dives in and grabs Nolan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nolan pushes down on Lee's head and hops out. Nolan lands with an uppercut that bounces Lee off the cage and back into range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Nolan dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Nolan Throws a clean left jab. Nolan Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Lee's chin! Lee crumbles to the ground and Nolan follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Nolan!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). John Nolan! A very excited looking John Nolan rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
