Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juha Virtanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan DeMiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DeMiro has chosen Rammstein - Links 234 as his entrance music. Ryan DeMiro is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Juha Virtanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ryan DeMiro!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by DeMiro!

Virtanen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming DeMiro to the mat! DeMiro manages to get full guard.
Virtanen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
DeMiro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Virtanen is one step ahead there.

Virtanen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
DeMiro keeping full guard, as Virtanen tries to pass.

Virtanen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
DeMiro can't do much from the bottom here.
Virtanen tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

DeMiro shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
DeMiro wants to stand up but Virtanen is controlling the position.
Virtanen wants to improve his position but DeMiro is controlling well.
DeMiro is stalling here. Virtanen is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! DeMiro seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Virtanen has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Virtanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by DeMiro, who protects the arm well.

Virtanen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, DeMiro has escaped the position, nice work there.
Virtanen is breathing heavily.
DeMiro tries to bench press Virtanen off him but Virtanen keeps the position.
DeMiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Virtanen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Virtanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by DeMiro, who protects the arm well.
DeMiro is looking for a sweep.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Virtanen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Virtanen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juha Virtanen dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Virtanen fails with a takedown attempt.
DeMiro fails with an attempt to clinch.
DeMiro is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Virtanen shoots in but DeMiro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Virtanen counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

and Virtanen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DeMiro has control of Virtanen's left arm, preventing Virtanen from doing any damage.

Virtanen won't allow DeMiro to sweep him here.
DeMiro throwing short punches from the bottom.
DeMiro working a defensive guard but Virtanen manages to pass into side control anyway.

Virtanen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Virtanen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
DeMiro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Virtanen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
DeMiro gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
DeMiro is trying to escape the mount but Virtanen keeps good control and instead manages to take DeMiro's back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
DeMiro is keeping busy.

Virtanen has both hooks in and is working for a choke. DeMiro is in real trouble here. Virtanen gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, DeMiro is tapping out! Virtanen wins by rear naked choke!
