Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marty Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elliott Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stanley is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Terror - One with the Underdogs. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marty Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elliott Stanley!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes gets a double leg takedown into Stanley's guard.
Stanley looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stanley looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Stanley wants to stand but Mendes is controlling the position.
Stanley pulls Mendes in close to his closed guard and prevents Mendes from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mendes wants to pass the guard but Stanley is keeping the position.
Stanley wants to get back to his feet but Mendes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Stanley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Stanley tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stanley keeps trying to improve his position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stanley connects with a single shot there.
Elliott Stanley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Stanley moves in looking to clinch but Mendes pushes him off.

Mendes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stanley's guard.
Mendes throws a big elbow that misses.
Stanley trying to keep a closed guard but Mendes is proving a slippery customer.

Stanley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mendes defends it easily.
Mendes wants to control from the top but Stanley keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stanley can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mendes is really struggling to control Stanley but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Mendes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mendes wants to control from the top but Stanley keeps moving.

Stanley wants to get back to his feet but Mendes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mendes stopping the sweep attempt from Stanley.
Stanley is looking to stand up but Mendes isn't so interested in that idea.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Mendes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mendes tries to free his leg and advance position but Stanley is retaining full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Elliott Stanley hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Stanley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That was a close round but I would say that Marty Mendes will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mendes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stanley misses with a low kick.
Stanley throws a series of punches but Mendes moves out of range.
Stanley tries to clinch but Mendes is having none of it.
Mendes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stanley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mendes tries for a takedown but Stanley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marty Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mendes swats away the attempt to clinch by Stanley.
Stanley misses with a kick to the body.
Stanley tries to clinch up.
Stanley stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendes. Mendes gets slowly back to his feet.
Marty Mendes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stanley has taken the fight to the clinch.

Stanley is trying to stall.

Mendes drags the fight down to the ground.
Stanley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stanley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stanley wants to stand but Mendes is controlling his posture from full guard.
Stanley looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Stanley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mendes keeping moving, preventing Stanley from controlling successfully.
Marty Mendes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Elliott Stanley.
Mendes misses with a takedown attempt - Stanley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mendes avoids the head kick by Stanley.
Mendes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stanley as he avoids it easily.

and Mendes counters with a shoot takedown. Stanley fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stanley pulls Mendes in close to prevent any damage.
Mendes prevents Stanley from getting back to his feet.
Mendes passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Stanley struggling a bit here.

Stanley throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Stanley is trying to buck Mendes off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stanley keeps working.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Elliott Stanley will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Mendes moves out of range as Stanley throws a body kick.
Elliott Stanley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A thudding body kick lands there by Stanley!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Stanley - that will leave a mark!
Stanley throws the kick towards the body but Mendes avoids it.
Stanley tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mendes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stanley fails in his attempt to clinch.
Stanley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Stanley scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Stanley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stanley throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Stanley throws a sloppy head kick and Mendes moves out of range easily.
Mendes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mendes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stanley is looking to land body kicks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mendes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stanley lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Stanley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mendes to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mendes trying to control the position from guard on top but Stanley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stanley looking for a sweep. Not yet Stanley, not yet.
Stanley wants to stand up but Mendes is controlling him.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mendes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stanley wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mendes manages to pass to side control.
Stanley is looking to get back to is feet but Mendes passes into side control.
Mendes has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Stanley!
Mendes moves to back control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mendes is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Stanley won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Mendes off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marty Mendes!
