Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Ax! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roger Trijau! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trijau throws an off balance right hand
and Ax connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Roger Trijau has been cut. Trijau misses with a leg kick. A combination from Ax does no damage. A slow jab from Trijau misses its intended target. Trijau instigates a clinch. Ax tries a knee to the head but Trijau blocks it.
Ax is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Trijau to keep the fight standing. Ax can't break the clinch.
Trijau gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ax punching to the body, from the bottom. Trijau engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Ax is wriggling around but Trijau manages to pass to half guard.
Trijau seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Trijau is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Trijau is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Ax knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Trijau on the ground. Trijau prevents Ax from standing back up.
Trijau performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Ax is trying to stand up here but Trijau is controlling him well. Ax is breathing heavily. Trijau uses his free foot to push down on Ax's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ax. Trijau controlling the pace for now. Trijau has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ax's face.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trijau is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Trijau!
