PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Hearst Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wesley Templar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan's entrance music is The Game. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Hunter Hearst Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Wesley Templar!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan misses with a low kick as Templar jumps back.

Templar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hogan did well to prevent Templar getting side control.
Templar is trying to control. Hogan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hogan is looking for a sweep.
I wouldn't like to be where Hogan is right now.
Templar tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hogan's legs.
Hogan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hogan tries to bench press Templar off him but Templar keeps the position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Templar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Hogan can't do much from the bottom here.
Hogan is looking to regain half guard here but Templar keeps moving and retains side control.
Hogan wants to control but Templar postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Templar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hogan.

Templar jabs Hogan right on the nose. Hogan blinks but takes it well.
Hogan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Templar.
Templar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hogan moves away.
Templar darts in looking for a takedown but Hogan gets double underhooks and turns Templar into the cage.
Templar lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Templar lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hogan or not.
Hogan just leaning against Templar, taking a breather.
Templar is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hogan is defending well.

Hogan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Templar is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hogan rather than just go for the knockout.

Hogan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hunter Hearst Hogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wesley Templar.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Templar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hogan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hogan wants to control from the top but Templar keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Templar is on top in guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wesley Templar dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hogan slips a straight right by Templar.
Hogan throws a jab when Templar was well out of range.
Hogan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Templar's corner calls for a 1-2. Templar obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Hogan closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A looping hook to the body misses from Templar. Hogan does a little dance to reset his feet.

Templar keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Hogan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hogan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Templar tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Templar swings for the body but Hogan moves out of range.
Templar tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice defenses there by Hogan.
A slow jab from Hogan misses its intended target.

Templar goes for a double leg but Hogan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hogan continues to drive forward.

Hogan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hogan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hogan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Templar's guard.

Hogan is sitting in close to Templar's body. Templar has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hogan is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hogan is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Templar.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Wesley Templar!
