Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Hendrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendrix has chosen Born To Raise Hell as his entrance music. The key to victory for Dan Fernandez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Fernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Billy Hendrix! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez drives through with a takedown into guard. Hendrix working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fernandez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fernandez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fernandez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fernandez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Fernandez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hendrix holds on and takes a little breather. Fernandez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hendrix is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hendrix has escaped and now he's on top! Fernandez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Fernandez is breathing heavily. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hendrix accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hendrix is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Fernandez working for a triangle but Hendrix defends it easily.

Despite being in the dominant position, Billy Hendrix just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hendrix throws a head kick that misses. Fernandez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Billy Hendrix will probably get the nod. That's time! Fernandez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hendrix closes the distance and clinches. Hendrix escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fernandez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hendrix's waist but Hendrix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fernandez off to one side. Fernandez tries for a takedown but Hendrix sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Fernandez shoots for a double leg takedown but Hendrix sprawls well. He's pushed Fernandez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Fernandez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hendrix throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

He has the arm isolated but Fernandez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Fernandez tries to improve position but can't. Fernandez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hendrix's best efforts.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hendrix is looking to take a break and control but Fernandez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fernandez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Fernandez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hendrix in particular looking to stall. Fernandez looking for submissions off his back. Billy Hendrix has got the better of the ground game so far. Fernandez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Billy Hendrix comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hendrix has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
