Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Leach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andy Wilkins! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wilkins. Leach does a little dance to reset his feet. Leach really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Wilkins uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Leach.
Wilkins ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Leach takes one to the chin there. Wilkins lands with a hook. Leach tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Wilkins lands with a nice body punch. Andy Wilkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. That kick from Leach tenderised Wilkins's leg. Wilkins is trying to keep his angry face on. Wilkins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wilkins looks to score with a jab to the body but Leach is just out of range. Wilkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Leach's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Wilkins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Wilkins postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Wilkins is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wilkins working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andy Wilkins wasn't active enough on the ground. Wilkins looks to score with a jab to the body but Leach is just out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leach uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wilkins. Leach thows a body shot but no joy. Wilkins cracks Leach with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Leach has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Leach there as he acknowledges the shot. Wilkins lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Matt Leach has been cut. Wilkins dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wilkins pushing out the jab but it's not landing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wilkins jabs at Leach's body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leach uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wilkins. Leach takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Wilkins lands a nice hook to Leach's body. Leach takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Wilkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Leach looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Leach on the wrong end of a nice jab. Leach looks for the body kick but Wilkins saw that one coming. Wilkins throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Leach on the side of the head. Leach throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Wilkins is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Leach rather than just go for the knockout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leach looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Wilkins misses the shot to the body. Wilkins fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Leach manages to avoid it. Wilkins swings for the body but Leach moves out of range.
Leach throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A leg kick checked by Wilkins. Wilkins throws a shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilkins misses with a hook. Leach ducked under it nicely. Leach scores with a nice body kick.

Leach misses with a left hand and Wilkins counters with a shoot takedown. Leach fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leach wants to sweep but no luck. Wilkins wants to pass the guard but Leach is keeping the position. Wilkins throwing strikes from guard but Leach blocks nicely. Leach not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wilkins working some strikes from top position. Wilkins cracks Leach with a solid left hand. Wilkins trying to control but Leach is working from the bottom. Wilkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Leach swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilkins is in close to Leach's body, working some short punches and elbows. Leach pulls Wilkins in close to prevent any damage. Leach looking for a sweep. Not yet Leach, not yet. Wilkins throws a big elbow that misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Leach is trying to keep Wilkins in close.

He's being very persistent here but Leach manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Leach trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilkins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andy Wilkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Matt Leach's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Wilkins misses with a takedown attempt - Leach sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Wilkins scores with a jab to the body. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wilkins cracks a nice hook into Leach's ribs. Wilkins scores with a punch to the head. Leach gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Wilkins misses with a right hand and Leach counters with a nice body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Leach stuffs the takedown attempt from Wilkins. Wilkins gets slowly back to his feet. Leach attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Wilkins misses the shot to the body. Wilkins cracks Leach with an open hand slap. Leach lands with a kick to the temple. Wilkins shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Andy Wilkins has been cut. Matt Leach is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Leach does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Leach showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wilkins.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A clash of legs there as Wilkins blocks the low kick. Leach takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wilkins dives in and grabs Leach's left leg, looking for a takedown. Leach pushes down on Wilkins's head and hops out. Matt Leach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Wilkins. Wilkins throws a hook to the side of Leach's head but Leach sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Wilkins scores with a nice right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Leach walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Leach looks for the body kick but Wilkins saw that one coming. Matt Leach has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Wilkins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Leach but Leach pushes him off and we're back to square one. Wilkins lands with an uppercut that bounces Leach off the cage and back into range. Wilkins tries for a takedown but Leach sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Leach bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Leach throws a solid leg kick but Wilkins takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Leach. The fighters circling - Wilkins throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Wilkins thuds his right hand into Leach's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Andy Wilkins is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leach scores with a spinning back kick! Leach staying out of range there. Wilkins tries to move into range but Leach moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Leach connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Leach throws a leg kick but Wilkins checks it. A nice leg kick lands there from Leach. Wilkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilkins avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Leach thows a body shot but no joy.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Leach showed his dominance in that final round. Well Wilkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
