Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Pyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philander Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pyle comes to the cage accompanied by Bate Pesadão. Richard Pyle has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richard Pyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Philander Chavez! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pyle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign! Chavez wants to clinch up but Pyle keeps it at a distance. Chavez closes the distance but Pyle moves to the side and Pyle counters with a takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Pyle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Pyle advances to full mount. Chavez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Pyle. Pyle avoids the attempt from Chavez to control. Pyle is working for a guillotine from mount but Chavez frees his head quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pyle has control of Chavez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chavez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Pyle wants to finish this one by submission but Chavez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pyle. We've been hearing that Pyle has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Pyle jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chavez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chavez and Pyle has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Pyle tries for a kimura but Chavez is defending well. Pyle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chavez, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pyle tries to advance to mount but Chavez denies him. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Chavez is looking for a sweep. Pyle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chavez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Pyle is trying to move to mount but Chavez reverses beautifully and ends up in Pyle's guard. Pyle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Chavez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Chavez stopping the sweep attempt from Pyle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pyle's guard. Pyle is looking for a sweep. Chavez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Chavez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chavez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Pyle is trying to get back to full guard. Pyle moves into full guard.
Pyle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pyle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pyle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pyle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chavez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chavez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Chavez won't allow Pyle to sweep him here. Pyle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chavez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Chavez digs a good body shot into Pyle's ribs. Chavez darts in looking for a takedown but Pyle gets double underhooks and turns Chavez into the cage. Chavez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Chavez misses with a punch to the body.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nice elbow from Chavez. Chavez is trying to break the clinch but Pyle has him pressed against the cage. Chavez wants to break free but Pyle has control.

Chavez wants to stand and escape but Pyle is having none of it. Pyle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chavez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
