Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Killarus McCloud! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, George Rogers! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCloud feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. McCloud stopping the sweep attempt from Rogers. McCloud wants to control from the top but Rogers keeps moving. McCloud is really struggling to control Rogers but he's trying to hold on to the position. Rogers is pulling down on McCloud's head. It's preventing any offense from McCloud, at least for the moment. Rogers wants to get back to his feet but McCloud is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Rogers has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCloud can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rogers wants to stand and escape but McCloud is having none of it. McCloud wants to pass the guard but Rogers is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rogers tries to clinch up but McCloud circles away and keeps his distance. McCloud closes the distance and clinches up with Rogers, looking for a takedown. McCloud pushes Rogers against the cage but Rogers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McCloud darts in and clinches Rogers up against the cage. Rogers wants to break the clinch but can't.

McCloud is trying to control the position but Rogers postures up. McCloud is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rogers is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. McCloud escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rogers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rogers sitting in guard, not really doing much. Rogers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Rogers is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rogers preventing the sweep. Rogers stays in close to McCloud's body and controls the position. Rogers works a leg free and moves into half guard. McCloud is breathing heavily. Rogers wants to pass to mount but McCloud is defending the position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rogers in particular looking to stall. Rogers wants to stand but McCloud has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Rogers controlling the pace. Rogers moves into full mount! McCloud won't be happy about that!
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCloud is desperately trying to improve his position but Rogers has a good base and remains in mount. McCloud tries to hold on but Rogers pushes him away. Rogers is landing with some decent strikes but McCloud is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Rogers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McCloud can't escape the position.
Rogers trying to control but McCloud is having none of it. McCloud regains half guard. Rogers seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

McCloud is pressing down on Rogers's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. McCloud has his foot on Rogers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rogers works his way back into a safe position though. McCloud tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Killarus McCloud will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rogers wants to clinch but McCloud slips to the side and McCloud counters with a nice double leg into guard. Rogers wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and McCloud manages to pass to side control. Rogers is refusing to be controlled, as McCloud sits in half guard. Rogers is trying to maintain the position but McCloud is very close to passing his half guard. McCloud thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rogers's head. Rogers is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McCloud's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McCloud's back! Rogers is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. McCloud is defending well though. Rogers let's go of the attempt for now. McCloud trying to control but not successfully. Rogers is breathing heavily. Rogers is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Rogers is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Rogers misses with some punches.
McCloud prevents Rogers from breaking the clinch. Rogers lands on the inside with an uppercut. McCloud misses with a knee strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. McCloud sitting in guard here, content to control. McCloud with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rogers looks to clinch and McCloud counters with a left and a right that stings Rogers. Rogers tries to grapple but his opponent circles and McCloud counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Rogers scores with a shoulder strike. McCloud successfully pulls guard.

McCloud gets to his feet - Rogers follows without any prompting. McCloud will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rogers moves in looking to clinch but McCloud pushes him off. McCloud shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rogers pinned against the cage. Rogers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Rogers wants to clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rogers circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Killarus McCloud. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McCloud, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
