Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kato Munechika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Munechika has chosen Requiem for a Dream as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Shields! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kato Munechika! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munechika thuds his shin into the meat of Shields's side. Shields takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nice takedown defense from Munechika. No joy for Shields on that attempt. Shields takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Shields takes a body punch but keeps moving. Shields throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Shields gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Munechika to score an easy takedown into full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Munechika throws a big elbow that misses. Shields knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Munechika on the ground. Shields wants to stand and escape but Munechika is having none of it. Munechika with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Munechika slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Shields has momentary wrist control but Munechika slips an elbow through the middle. Munechika loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Munechika working some strikes from top position. Munechika sitting in guard here, content to control. Shields is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shields on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shields tries to get out of the position. Munechika keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shields's head. Munechika sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shields's guard. Munechika performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Munechika's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Munechika has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Munechika seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Munechika is figuring out what he wants to do next. Shields is looking to escape. Munechika prevents Shields from improving his position. Munechika takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Munechika in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Shields tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Munechika!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kato Munechika! Kato Munechika really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Hellbent logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
