Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicolas Karkmananis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Spishak! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spishak closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Spishak lands in his opponent's guard. Spishak with a nice head shot there. Spishak prevents Karkmananis from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Karkmananis managing to control the position. Spishak tries to free his leg and advance position but Karkmananis is retaining full guard. Spishak wants to control from the top but Karkmananis keeps moving. Karkmananis is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Team 907 Assassins that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Spishak keeps the fight on the outside. Karkmananis moves into the clinch. Karkmananis blocks the elbow strike.
