PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Radar Salter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archie Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stewart is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Frightened Rabbit - The Twist. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Archie Stewart was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Radar Salter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Archie Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salter throws out a powerful jab.
Salter lands with a kick to the ribs.
Salter misses with a hook.
Stewart misses with a looping right.
Salter slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Salter uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Stewart takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Stewart comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Stewart misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stewart swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Salter takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Stewart drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Salter manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Stewart misses with a short punch on the inside.
Salter is trying to break the clinch but Stewart is controlling him.

Salter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Radar Salter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stewart fails in his attempt to clinch.
Salter cracks Stewart with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Stewart is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Salter knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Salter for a finish.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Stewart throws a nice looking combination but Salter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Stewart shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salter but Salter pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That was a close second round but I would say that Radar Salter will probably get the nod.

Stewart throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Salter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stewart is defended easily by Salter.

Salter steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stewart.

I think Stewart has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
