Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dick Dickinson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leo Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dickinson thows a left - swing and a miss! Ruiz tries a head kick but it misses.
Dickinson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ruiz. Dickinson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ruiz did well to prevent Dickinson getting side control. Dickinson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ruiz has managed to free his arm - good work. Ruiz is trying to stand back up but Dickinson is controlling him
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dickinson in particular looking to stall. Dickinson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Dickinson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dickinson digs a good body shot into Ruiz's ribs. Ruiz looks winded! The fight moves into the clinch position. Dickinson is trying to trip Ruiz. He has hold of a leg but Ruiz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dickinson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Dickinson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Ruiz tries to sprawl but Dickinson drives through with a takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Dickinson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dickinson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ruiz to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruiz gets caught napping as Dickinson dives in and scores a takedown. Ruiz manages to retain guard. Ruiz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ruiz trying to control the position.
Dickinson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Dickinson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Dickinson happy to just control the position for now. Dickinson advances to full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dickinson has isolated one of Ruiz's arms. Ruiz looking to fight him off but Dickinson twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
